The association between Jazz and the saxophone spans the history of Jazz music, and evokes memories of the swing & bebop eras and beyond. At the Jazz Prescription, we use a few eminent saxophonists, but none more accomplished than Iain Dixon, who has been playing extensively with Jeremy Sassoon for 3 years in duo, trio, quartet and 8-piece band formats.
Iain is one of the most highly respected musicians in the UK today with equal virtuosity on both clarinet and saxophone. At 21 he joined the BBC Radio Orchestra / Big Band and during his eight years with the band he performed and recorded with many internationally renowned artists including Arturo Sandoval, George Shearing & Mel Torme to name but a few.
As a jazz artist Iain has toured and recorded with Mike Gibbs, Julian Arguelles, Dave Green Trio, Anthony Braxton, Nikki Iles Quartet & John Taylor. In 2002 Iain toured with Michael Brecker & Gil Goldstein. Iain is featured on numerous albums and film soundtracks including Joni Mitchell (Both Sides Now), Primal Scream (Vanishing Point), Colin Towns (The Orpheus Suite), 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' & 'Bright Young Things'.
Iain currently tours with Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry and remains in high demand as a freelance player nationwide.
